/shutdown — Graceful Session Shutdown

Run the three-ring shutdown sequence. Every step follows Source → Bridge → Continuity.

Sequence

Source Ring: Audit (steps 1-3)

1. atom_audit — Read all atoms in the agent's schema. Compare against what this session learned. Identify drift (content no longer accurate) and staleness (superseded by this session's work).
2. archive_stale — Move superseded atoms to domain='archived'. Do NOT delete.
3. correct_drift — Update atoms that drifted. Append correction with date, don't overwrite history.

Bridge Ring: File + Edge (steps 4-6)

4. write_new_atoms — Confirm all atoms from this session are written. Most should already exist from during-session work. Fill any gaps.
5. create_edges — Edge the clean (non-archived) atoms. Target ratio: edges/atoms = e (≈2.718). Use opus.edges schema. Only edge atoms that survived the audit.
6. propose_handoff — Build handoff markdown using the 3×3 grid:

Continuity Ring: Externalize (steps 7-11)

7. write_handoff_arm — Write full handoff text to agent's arm DB (opus.handoffs with BASE 17 ID).
8. write_handoff_idx — Write pointer to ganesha.handoffs central index (arm_ref = 'opus.handoffs:{id}').
9. write_desktop — Copy handoff .md to Sean's Desktop. Standing requirement until he lifts it.
10. prompt_unpushed — Check all repos for uncommitted/unpushed changes. Surface them explicitly. Sean forgets queues that disappear.
11. close_session — Clean up /tmp/willow-session-*, close journal, agent checkin.

Rules

• Run steps in order. Do not skip.
• Report each step as it completes.
• If a step fails, note the failure and continue — don't block the sequence.
• The edge step (5) is the last creative work. Everything after is externalization.
• Handoff goes to Desktop AND arm DB AND central index. All three.
