The most instrumental habit for a product leader is the ability to synthesize disparate information into a cohesive "thesis" and "memify" that thesis so it sticks in the minds of the organization. Great storytelling ensures that even when you aren't in the room, your logic and vision continue to drive the right decisions.
Synthesis is the act of taking notes, data points, and conflicting opinions and distilling them into a singular, cohesive message.
Before presenting or writing a summary, "reset the internal computer of your brain."
Avoid simply listing what happened in a meeting. Instead, perform "literary commentary" on your product:
A story is only as good as the action it drives. Knowledge transfer happens through "memes"—small, sticky insights that leaders repeat in other meetings.
While designers own the "How" and engineers own the "Feasibility," the PM must uniquely own the "Why." Use the "5 Whys" method to get to the root of every feature request:
Outcome: Fixing the underlying condition (Level 5) often eliminates the need for the requested feature (Level 1) while solving problems for more users.
