Great leadership is defined by the ability to make decisions when every available choice is horrible. The most destructive force in an organization is leader hesitation, which occurs when a leader avoids choosing between two painful alternatives. This skill provides the psychological framework to "click into the abyss," identify the "slightly better" path, and execute to maintain organizational momentum.
List the paths you are currently avoiding. Be brutally honest about the consequences of each.
Discard all resources, time, and ego already invested in the current path.
Acknowledge that by not choosing, you are choosing Path C: Organizational Decay.
In the "abyss," you aren't looking for a "win"; you are looking for the path that keeps the company alive.
