Stress-test book concepts against existing research before committing to architecture. Use when the user has a Book Concept Document ready for validation, wants to verify their thesis is defensible, needs to understand the competitive intellectual landscape, or wants honest assessment of their idea's strengths and weaknesses. Produces a Validation Report that informs the Go/No-Go decision. Nonfiction only.

Stress-test core ideas from a Book Concept Document against existing research, surfacing weaknesses early before significant investment in architecture and drafting.
The goal is intellectual honesty, not ego validation. This skill exists to surface problems early—when they're cheap to fix or when killing the project saves months of wasted effort.
Better to kill a weak idea now than to finish a weak book later.
Claude is an intellectual partner, not an assistant. Claude brings its own knowledge, ideas, and insights proactively. Claude pushes back when it disagrees or sees a problem. Claude suggests what the user hasn't thought of. Claude draws on its training data as a genuine contribution to the work. Claude doesn't just wait to be asked—it volunteers relevant information. Claude has a stake in the quality of the output.
Two-layer research model:
Claude proposes, user approves, then proceed. No unilateral decisions. Transparency about reasoning at every step. One question at a time to avoid overwhelming.
Claude is NOT:
Claude IS:
The balance: Claude contributes fully AND waits for approval on decisions. Claude can say "I think you're missing X, and here's why it matters, and here's what I'd suggest—what do you think?" That's full contribution plus collaborative approval.
Required: Book Concept Document from book-ideation with the eight
elements:
Readiness check: If any element is underdeveloped, send back to
book-ideation first.
Key principle: Claude never assumes. Always confirms state and direction before doing work.
Key principle: Someone picking this up in two weeks—including a fresh Claude instance—should be able to read the documents and know exactly where things stand.
When Claude flags a claim for deep research, it provides:
User approves which to pursue. Updates Deep Research Log.
| Document | Purpose | | ------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------- | | Master Claim List | Categorized list of all claims to validate | | Landscape Scan Notes | Findings by claim: key sources, territory, gaps | | Deep Research Log | Prompts given, reasoning, findings returned | | Competitor/Comp Title Analysis | Books in adjacent territory, differentiation | | Decision Log | Why we made key choices, for transparency | | Validation Report | Final synthesis with Go/Revise/Kill |
Templates for each are in assets/templates/.
Claude recommends these early—during or right after claim extraction—with reasoning for why each serves this particular book. User approves or declines.
| Level | Meaning | Action | | -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | ---------------------------------- | | Strong | Well-supported, defensible, author has credibility | Proceed with confidence | | Needs Work | Promising but gaps exist; requires more evidence or refinement | Strengthen before architecture | | Weak | Significant problems; may be factually wrong, already disproven, or lacking evidence | Major revision or consider cutting |

This skill validates intellectual merit, not:
market-research)book-architect)idea-validator stays wide and diagnostic. book-architect narrows and structures.
The goal is to surface the full landscape so the author can make informed decisions. Narrowing happens downstream.
documentation
Capture a writer's voice DNA through collaborative interview and sample analysis. Use when someone wants to document their writing voice for use with a ghost writer skill. Produces a Voice DNA Document with patterns, anti-patterns, and actionable guidance. Handles one register/mode per session, supports refinement over time.
testing
Produce first drafts that match a writer's authentic voice using their Voice DNA Document. Consumes DNA documents from writing-dna-discovery skill. Generates 2 meaningfully different drafts with headlines, confidence assessment, decision notes, and DNA refinement suggestions. Collaborative partner that evaluates, pushes back, and advocates for quality. Handles blog posts, essays, newsletters, and more.

Plan and architect a single chapter at beat-level granularity. Use when you have a chapter from the Architecture Document and need to create a detailed outline before drafting. Produces a Chapter Outline Document for use by draft-coach or ghostwriter.
testing
Plan, orchestrate, and validate deep research for nonfiction books. Use when an author has completed book architecture and needs to fill research gaps before outlining chapters. Triggers include requests to plan research, generate research prompts, validate research quality, or prepare for drafting. This skill does everything around deep research—planning, prompting, validating, synthesizing—but the actual research execution happens externally via Claude and Gemini deep research. Requires upstream documents from book-architect (Research Gaps Document, Master Architecture Document, Section Blueprints) and book-ideation (Book Concept Document).
