Problem
Teams need predictable scaffold behavior across updates while still enabling feature-specific guidance.
Solution
Treat the manifest as source-of-truth for feature state, and use update-driven reconciliation.
Workflow
- Initial scaffold with selected features:
ai-context new --solution <path> --namespace <ns> --target claude --features <...>
- Persist and version control manifest:
.claude/.claude-context-manifest
- Modify feature list only through:
- new scaffold invocation, or
- manifest edit +
ai-context update
- Reconcile changes with:
ai-context update --solution <path> --target claude
Design Rules
- Root instructions include selected feature sections.
- Rules folder is deployed as part of Claude context assets.
- Stale tool-owned files should be removed on update when not part of current deployment.
Team Practice
- Always run
--dry-runin CI validation jobs before forced updates. - Commit manifests with scaffolded assets to keep teammate updates deterministic.
