2. Hook Formulas by Format

YouTube (60 seconds to establish value):

Unexpected claim → Credibility → Preview → Pattern interrupt
"[Bold claim]. [Why I know]. [What you'll learn]. [Teaser of best moment]."

TikTok / Reels (3 seconds to hook, no second chance):

Open with the payoff, not the setup.
"Here's the thing nobody tells you about [topic]..." [cut to demonstration]
OR: "[Show the result first], here's how I did it in [timeframe]"

Course / Tutorial (establish transformation):

"By the end of this [lesson/module], you'll be able to [specific skill]."
"Before we start — common mistake: [mistake]. We'll avoid this by [approach]."

3. Storytelling Frameworks

Problem-Agitate-Solution (PAS)

PROBLEM: Identify a pain the viewer has
AGITATE: Make the problem feel urgent ("If you don't fix this...")
SOLUTION: Present your approach as the answer

Before-After-Bridge (BAB)

BEFORE: "You're probably doing X, which causes Y"
AFTER: "Imagine being able to Z"
BRIDGE: "Here's exactly how to get from before to after"

STAR (for case studies)

SITUATION: Context and background
TASK: The challenge to solve
ACTION: What was done and why
RESULT: Concrete outcome with numbers

4. B-Roll Direction

Add B-roll notes to every section. Types:

Rule: Change visual every 15–30 seconds maximum. Static talking head for >30s loses viewers.

5. CTA Placement

6. Format-Specific Rules

YouTube Long-Form (8–20 min)

• Pattern interrupt every 2–3 minutes
• Chapters at every topic shift
• Recap key points before outro
• End card: 2 video recommendations + subscribe button

TikTok / Reels (15–90 sec)

• Hook in first frame (no logo, no intro music)
• One idea only — no sub-points
• Text overlay on key phrase every scene
• Sound-off friendly (add captions)
• End on a question or "follow for part 2"

Course Module (5–15 min)

• State learning objective first
• Concept → Example → Practice exercise
• Recap at end: "In this lesson you learned: [1], [2], [3]"
• Transition to next lesson: "Next up: [title]"

7. Script Quality Checklist

• [ ] Hook lands in first 5 seconds
• [ ] Promise stated clearly in first 30 seconds
• [ ] No "um", "uh", "so" as sentence starters (write around them)
• [ ] B-roll note on every section
• [ ] Visual changes at least every 25 seconds
• [ ] CTA placed after value delivered (not at the start)
• [ ] Length matches format target (±20%)
• [ ] Specific examples and numbers (not vague claims)
