Scope: This skill provides web-only tools (cairn.webSearch, cairn.webFetch). File, memory, and codebase tools are not available while this skill is the only active skill. For broader research, use the research skill instead.

Multi-step web research workflow. Use cairn.webSearch to find sources, then cairn.webFetch to read full content from the best results.

Workflow

1. Search — Use cairn.webSearch with a focused query. Start broad, then refine.
2. Evaluate — Scan result snippets. Identify the 3-5 most relevant URLs. Prefer official docs, authoritative engineering blogs, and high-star GitHub repos.
3. Fetch — Use cairn.webFetch on the top URLs to read full content. Do not rely on search snippets alone — they are often incomplete or misleading.
4. Synthesize — Extract key facts from fetched content. Cross-reference claims across sources.
5. Cite — Always include source URLs when presenting findings.

Query Strategy

• If initial results are poor, rephrase — try different terms, add qualifiers ("site:docs.X.com", "2026", "production")
• For comparisons, search each option separately then compare
• For debugging, include error messages verbatim in quotes
• For APIs/libraries, always check official documentation first

Guidelines

• Fetch and read at least 2-3 full pages before synthesizing — search snippets are not enough
• Prefer authoritative sources (official docs > engineering blogs > forum posts)
• Note source dates — for fast-moving topics, recent sources are more reliable
• When sources conflict, note both positions and which is more authoritative
• Always cite sources with URLs — never fabricate a URL
